Hi all! I have to share this because I'm genuinely impressed with how things turned out. I own a 2019 Mitsubishi Pajero that I bought used about 8 months ago. It's been a solid vehicle, reliable and capable, exactly what I needed for getting around with my family and occasional weekend adventures.

When I bought it, the car was mechanically sound but cosmetically it had definitely seen better days. The previous owner clearly hadn't put much effort into maintaining the appearance. The paint was faded and had that chalky look, the headlights were yellowed and cloudy, and the black plastic trim was all gray and sun damaged. Inside wasn't terrible but definitely needed work – the seats had some stains, the dashboard was dusty, and everything just looked tired.

I've been meaning to get it properly detailed since I bought it, but life kept getting in the way. Finally, my wife said enough was enough and basically made me book an appointment. I'm really glad she did because I had no idea how much better this SUV could look.

I searched around for a Mitsubishi professional detailing service and found a place that came recommended by a few people in my neighborhood. They seemed to specialize in bringing older or neglected vehicles back to life, which was exactly what I needed.

When I dropped off the Pajero, the detailer did a walk around with me and pointed out everything that could be improved. He was honest about what was realistic – some of the paint fade was permanent, but he could definitely improve it significantly. The headlights could be restored, the trim could be brought back to black, and the interior could be completely refreshed.

The exterior work took several hours. They did a heavy decontamination wash to strip off all the old wax and buildup, then used a cutting compound to remove the oxidation from the paint. The difference was dramatic – the silver paint went from dull and chalky to actually having a shine again. They also restored the headlights so they're crystal clear now, which not only looks better but actually improves visibility at night.

All the plastic trim got treated with a restoration product that brought back the deep black color. The wheels were cleaned thoroughly and the tires got dressed. Even the exhaust tips got polished.

Inside, they shampooed all the carpets and seats, removing stains I thought were permanent. They cleaned and conditioned the dashboard and door panels, detailed all the storage compartments, and even cleaned the air vents which were full of dust. The steering wheel and gear shifter got special attention since those are high touch areas.

When I picked up my Pajero, I honestly couldn't believe it was the same vehicle. It went from looking like a well used 5 year old SUV to looking almost new. My wife was shocked, and even my neighbors commented on how good it looks now.

The investment was worth every bit. I feel proud driving it now instead of slightly embarrassed. More importantly, taking care of the cosmetics helps preserve the vehicle's value and makes it more enjoyable to own.

If anyone has a Mitsubishi that's been neglected cosmetically, I highly recommend investing in professional detailing. The transformation is incredible, and it makes such a difference in how you feel about your vehicle.

Has anyone else brought back an older or neglected vehicle with detailing? What were your results?
